This weekend actually at the luxurious Hotel Icon! So I figured what better way to pre-celebrate by sharing their engagement photos! I really wish I could share Carrie's bridal images, but you and I are just going to have to wait until after Saturday!!!
Congratulations Carrie and Josh! I can't wait to hang out with you guys again this weekend!

I'm going to first off say that it was EXTREMELY windy that day. EXTREMELY! We seriously felt we were fighting with a tropical storm! But thankfully Cindy has beautiful brown hair that she styled with big curls! We might have had to fight to get all of these shots, but it was well worth it - the blood shot eyes the volumized hair, the sore vocal chords from trying to yell over the howl...
Their chemistry, the wind, and her hair all worked perfectly for their session :) Especially their chemistry :)

We sort of missed the sun set since we were having too much fun in the field of flowers and the beautiful light coming from behind the trees, but we were able to still get these...
Katie is such a sweetheart! I had tons of fun working with her! And now that she is married I can share her bridal session!

Lila and Lijo were amazing to work with! Their chemistry and love is truly authentic and my job behind the camera could have not been any easier.
I will remember this session forever for a few reasons, one being that after hearing their story of how they connected will remind me that when YOU KNOW, YOU JUST KNOW and love is powerful.
Secondly... hahaha... that I will do anything to get a shot. Lila told me that she was going to surprise Lijo by renting him a motorcycle for their engagement session and that one of the shots she wanted was a shot of them riding the motorcycle so that they could get the motion blur effect. Well, I have seen the shot done before, but wasn't really sure on how to capture what I wanted. So after consulting with a few other photographers, the consensus was that I would have to put my camera in danger by putting it on a pole of some sort, so that it could be lowered to the ground outside a window of a moving vehical to where it was only inches from hitting the moving pavement below. Then I would have to trigger the shutter remotely. Well, I didn't have a special pole, nor a remote shutter release, and I wasn't about to put my camera in danger (by putting it on a pole and holding it inches from moving pavement).
What I did have was me, my mom, my very understanding boyfriend, and an SUV that had a lift gate. So... this was the revised setup... Terry, my very understanding boyfriend, and the only one I trusted to do this, was behind the wheel. My mom, who is also very understanding, rode in the back with me. We layed all of the back seats down and opened the lift gate (which exposed the entire back of my SUV). This allowed me to be the pole. Yes, the pole. So my mom held on to my legs, I held on to my camera (because that was the only thing I was worried about) and hung out of the back of the suv while my boyfriend drove while Lija and Lijo followed on the bike beside us. I made them ride beside us, because A. if I fell out I didn't want them to feel bad for running over me, hahaha, and B. it was the better angle :)
So yeah... it sounded like an awesome idea at the time. I mean it was flawless. Right? Yeah... Anyway, now that I look back at it I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO DO THAT. But would I do it again? HECK YEAH! But please... do as I say NOT as I do ;)
This awesome couple got married July 24th and I thought before I posted their wedding images I needed to post their engagement session :)
They rocked it out for their session, even if it was 1000 degrees outside. And then to top it off it rained for like 5 minutes which was just enough to make it nice and humid ( you have to love Texas weather). But they are awesome, and awesome people don't stop being awesome no matter what happens!

In Mexico!! Sadly I am not going with them, but we did have fun with their engagement session. We decided to do their session in Bryan and Independence, Tx.
Katie is a country girl at heart and her and Sepp (isn't that a cool name?) both love the outdoors, so a country background just seemed like the perfect fit. Also, they are getting married on the beach, so they are going to have plenty of "beachy" pictures, therefore they wanted something different. So we headed for the hills.
I don't like to admit it, but I would like to think that I am a small town country girl at heart too. Well, technically I am, my hometown doesn't even have a Wal-Mart or *gasp* a McDonald's (we did get a Subway a few years back). But I never got into the hat and boots sort of thing, I think it's a cute look, but just not me.I don't even listen to country music or even really like it, although I do like to two-step (yeah... don't ask... I never said I was normal).
Anyway, what I am getting at is that these type of sessions are always my favorite. I love open fields of tall wispy grass and wildflowers. I love wooden fences and big oak trees. I love the open feeling of the country. The stillness. The peace.
I told Terry that my new goal in life is to have my cake and eat it too. So hopefully, one day, we will have our trendy loft in the city with downtown views, but can escape to our house in Independence, Tx where we can sit on our wrap-around porch with our hot coco (coffee is soo over rated) and watch the sun rise while our horses run wild in the distant fields covered in morning due. Little much? Maybe. But there is nothing wrong with dreaming :)
Ok, so I'm getting off track again... it happens.
Sepp. Katie. Ya'll are AMAZING! Terry and I truly had fun hanging out and exploring the country side with you two. I think everything was perfect that day - the weather, the light, the scenery, the company, everything. Thank you for such a great time!
I know I have been lagging, but I do have a few goodies in-store for you! Just give me a few days... hopefully, maybe, well ok give me several days :) But they are coming, I promise!

Lauryn and Eric will be getting married in February at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas. I am so excited about their wedding, they are soo much fun to work with and it is always great finding clients that make you feel like your just hanging out with old friends instead of working.
